Senna Leaf Powder Organic

Native to northern Egypt, senna is a member of the pea family with long, spreading branches and yellow flowers which ripen into oblong, flat fruits. Senna leaves and senna pods have a long history of use in traditional healing practices for their beneficial properties. They’re occasionally employed for their mild laxative actions, of which the leaf is considered more powerful than the pods. Our senna powder is milled from organic Senna alexandrina leaves. Senna leaf powder is ideal for use in capsules, extracts, and topical preparations.

Senna encourages bowel movement by inhibiting the smooth muscles that retain stool and stimulating the smooth muscles that push stool through the intestine. The herb doesn’t work unless the sennosides in the herb are transformed into rheinanthrones by beneficial bacteria in the colon.

Precautions
Do not use this product if you have abdominal pain or diarrhea. Consult a healthcare provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing a baby. Discontinue use in the event of diarrhea or watery stools. Do not exceed recommended dose. Not for long-term use.
